Our Mission
To brighten the everyday lives of low-income senior citizens residing in subsidized apartment buildings.
Our Senior Programs are designed to:
-
Fight loneliness
-
Reduce social isolation
-
Create human connections
-
Build community
By delivering free hot meals on holidays, delivering care packages, and hosting social events and nature trips.
Holiday Meal Program
Among 15,000+ individuals eligible to receive a holiday meal, we currently provide about 4,000 seniors with a free, hot and hearty, ready-to-eat meal, right on:
Easter Sunday | Thanksgiving Day | Christmas Day
Individuals who sign up for a meal usually:
-
Don't have family (in the area or at all)
-
Don't have a place to go for the holidays (or access to transportation)
-
Can't easily walk or drive (due to weather conditions and/or a disability)
-
Can't afford to buy a holiday meal
-
Find it physically challenging to cook
Our seniors say they love the their Holiday Meals; not just the yummy food, but also the loving experience our volunteers provide them.

Each holiday, our program creates more human connections and builds community through our hundreds of volunteers, brightening the lives of thousands of senior citizens.
Social Gatherings Program
We bring the fun right to the community room of each senior building we serve, with social events consisting of:
Bingo | Live Music | Snack
Puzzles | Board Games | Door Prizes
Care Packages | & More Fun!
Social interaction is crucial to the mental and physical health of all people. Seniors especially tend to feel more lonely and isolate themselves due to:
-
Loss of their spouse and/or loved ones
-
Inability to work or pick up hobbies
-
Limitations due to income and/or health
Our seniors look forward to our events; they love how each social gathering is accessible, complimentary, and comes packed with unlimited fun!

Our programs and volunteers strive to fight loneliness and reduce social isolation by serving up smiles and good conversation, which helps seniors feel valued as human beings.
Care Package Program
An annual care package is delivered to each senior resident among the 200 buildings we serve, across 50 cities of Southeastern Wisconsin; which totals to 15,000+ care packages.
Each care package typically contains common household essentials such as:

Toilet Paper | Paper Towels | Facial Tissue
Bar Soap | Wash Cloths | Cleaning Rags
Puzzle Books | Pencils | Chapstick
And More!
*Package contents dependent on product donations received, but always include first (3) items*
Between inflation and being on a fixed income, seniors may find it difficult to afford household items. Our care packages reduce some of the stress, and allow seniors to budget for other needs.

Delivering care packages brightens the lives of seniors by providing peace of mind and consistent reminders that they matter to those around them.
Nature Trip
Every summer, we take our seniors on a Nature Trip for fishing, live music, water activities, swimming, hiking, and relaxation away from the busy city.
Our seniors enjoy a bus ride to West Bend, WI at the completely accessible Blue Lotus Nature Center throughout:
June | July | August
Between the quiet beauty and the fun activities, most of our seniors have never experienced a Nature Trip like this. They love it so much, they don't want to go home!
Our Nature Trips help reduce isolation and loneliness by allowing the space for our seniors to create connections between each other, our volunteers, and with nature.
