Holiday Meal Program

Volunteers can sign-up for each of the three major holidays of the year:
Easter Sunday | Thanksgiving Day | Christmas Day
Our Holiday Meal Program is our most popular Volunteer Opportunity. Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together to prepare or deliver 4,000 hot meals for our seniors, right on the actual holiday!
Note: The Volunteer Orientation will provide further information including: time-frames, designated locations, and applicable demonstrations for each program available at Community Projects for Seniors.

The Holiday Meal Program includes two main roles for volunteers to choose from:
Delivery Driver
Role
Delivery Drivers are responsible for all of the following:

Pick up ready-to-eat meals (will be loaded in your car by food-line support volunteers)

Drive meals to the assigned apartment building
-
Deliver meals to each registered senior on list
-
Provide warm smiles and joyful holiday wishes!
Availability
Delivery Drivers would initially need to be available from:
9:00AM to 1:00PM
[Time-frames may be subject to change based on route information; but do not typically exceed guideline above.]

Route information dependent on volunteer's preferences and/or limitations

Only (1) assigned apartment building per volunteer family/group/individual

Food Line & Support
Role
Food-Line Helpers are responsible for (1) of the following:

Scoop food onto containers (ie. mashed potatoes)
-
Package/seal containers
-
Box sealed containers (10 containers per box)

Count containers/boxes
-
Organize boxes
-
Run/load boxes to delivery drivers' cars
Availability
Food-Line Helpers would need to be available from:
8:15AM to 11:00AM
[Standing throughout shift: comfortable shoes highly recommended.]

Placemats
CALLING ALL KIDS!
Each of our free holiday meals come with an adorable placemat that is artfully crafted by a child.
This placemat is the hug that goes with the meal, and is more likely to be taped to the fridge, than it is to be used as an actual placemat.
We always need about 4,000 placemats for each holiday:
Easter | Thanksgiving | Christmas

Social Gatherings Program
Volunteers can sign-up throughout the year to help us host small social gatherings in the community rooms of the apartment buildings sites we serve. Activities and supplies include:
Bingo or Live Music | Lunch or Snack
Puzzles | Board Games | Door Prizes
Gifts (Care Packages)
And More!
Join the team and assist with organizing gatherings designed to brighten our seniors' everyday lives with cheerful live music and fun games!
Social Event Support
Social Event Support is responsible for the following:

Pick up supplies and activities from Community Projects for Seniors
-
Set-up at assigned apartment building
-
Record seniors' attendance
-
Serve up the fun: play, give out prizes, and have a blast!
Availability
Social Event Support would typically need to be available for (2) hours on a weekday (Monday-Friday):
Start Times: 11:00AM - 1:00PM
End Times: 1:00PM - 3:00PM
[Time-frames dependent on senior apartment building availability; time-frame flexibility may be available.]
Other Info
-
Volunteers are encouraged to provide supplies/activities if accessible; otherwise Community Projects for Seniors will provide all necessary items (including live music).

Social event opportunity is available for individuals and/or groups to join together.

Care Package Program

Volunteers can sign-up throughout the year to deliver care packages to each senior resident in one of the apartment building sites we serve.
Each care package typically contains common household essentials such as:
Toilet Paper | Paper Towels | Facial Tissue
Bar Soap | Wash Cloths | Cleaning Rags
Puzzle Books | Pencils | Chapstick
And More!
*Package contents dependent on product donations received, but always include first (3) items*
Delivering care packages is a rewarding and fun experience; many happy tears and smiles are shared! However, it is also physically demanding. Volunteers are encouraged to bring friends/family members to assist with delivery.
Care Package Delivery Driver
Care Package Delivery Drivers are responsible for the following:

Pick up care packages from Community Projects for Seniors

(With our help) load your vehicle with care package tote bags
-
Drive with care packages to assigned apartment building
-
Deliver care packages to each resident
-
Provide warm smile and your best one-liner joke!
Availability
Care Package Delivery Drivers would typically need to be available for (1-3) hours on selected delivery day:
Start Time: 9:00AM
End Times: 11:00AM - 1:00PM
[Time-frames dependent on building location and number of care packages to deliver]
