Holiday Meal Program

An elderly low-income man recieving a holiday meal delivery from a volunteer

Volunteers can sign-up for each of the three major holidays of the year:

Easter Sunday | Thanksgiving Day | Christmas Day

Our Holiday Meal Program is our most popular Volunteer Opportunity. Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together to prepare or deliver 4,000 hot meals for our seniors, right on the actual holiday!

Note: The Volunteer Orientation will provide further information including: time-frames, designated locations, and applicable demonstrations for each program available at Community Projects for Seniors.

Click HERE to check out the Orientation Schedule.

The Holiday Meal Program includes two main roles for volunteers to choose from:

Delivery Driver

Delivery Drivers are responsible for all of the following:

  • Pick up ready-to-eat meals (will be loaded in your car by food-line support volunteers)

  • Drive meals to the assigned apartment building

  • Deliver meals to each registered senior on list

  • Provide warm smiles and joyful holiday wishes!

Delivery Drivers would initially need to be available from:

9:00AM to 1:00PM

[Time-frames may be subject to change based on route information; but do not typically exceed guideline above.]

Other Info

  • Meal pick-up location will be provided weeks prior to event; may change between holidays

  • Route information dependent on volunteer's preferences and/or limitations

  • Only (1) assigned apartment building per volunteer family/group/individual

  • Have any questions/concerns? Contact Us

Food Line & Support

Food-Line Helpers are responsible for (1) of the following:

  • Scoop food onto containers (ie. mashed potatoes)

  • Package/seal containers

  • Box sealed containers (10 containers per box)

  • Count containers/boxes

  • Organize boxes

  • Run/load boxes to delivery drivers' cars

Food-Line Helpers would need to be available from:

8:15AM to 11:00AM

[Standing throughout shift: comfortable shoes highly recommended.]

Other Info

  • Registration required for EACH attending member (each role will be completely filled prior to event)

  • Food-Line location (a.k.a. meal pick-up location) will be provided weeks prior to event; may change between holidays

  • Have any questions/concerns? Contact Us

Each of our free holiday meals come with an adorable placemat that is artfully crafted by a child.

This placemat is the hug that goes with the meal, and is more likely to be taped to the fridge, than it is to be used as an actual placemat.

We always need about 4,000 placemats for each holiday:

Easter | Thanksgiving | Christmas

Here are some instructions and suggestions:
